SBTi dashboard: how to read the Target Dashboard
The SBTi dashboard is the public register of every company with SBTi targets or a commitment to set them, updated every Thursday, with statuses that changed on 24 September 2026.
This guide shows how to search and download the Science Based Targets initiative dashboard and how to read what a row says, and does not say.

Statuses
Science Based Targets initiative dashboard statuses
| Company label | What it means | Precedence |
|---|---|---|
| Validated Targets | At least one target approved by SBTi Services and published | 1st |
| Commitment to Set Targets | Committed and inside the 24-month window to submit | 2nd |
| Commitment Removed | Missed the window, failed validation or did not publish in time | 3rd |
Validated FI targets will show whether they are under the near-term criteria (FINT) or FINZ “by the second quarter of 2027”.
September 2026
What changed on the SBTi dashboard in 2026
The SBTi’s blog of 13 August 2026 announced it: “On September 24, 2026, the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) will introduce updates to the SBTi Target Dashboard to align with the revised Commitment and Target Status Document, the UN M49 standard, and improve data consistency”.
The changes apply to the downloads too, and on that date the status document replaced the Commitment Compliance Policy.
The old “Companies Taking Action” page now redirects to the dashboard; its name survives only in case-study addresses.
One line of the dashboard key still names the superseded Commitment Compliance Policy, and the page calls the downloads “.xls” when they are .xlsx.
Limits
What the SBTi dashboard does not tell you
A Validated Targets row says the target passed validation and was published within six months (C28); it does not say the company is on track.
Counts change weekly: the dashboard showed 12,121 organisations with validated targets on 11 October 2026, and any figure you quote needs its date.
Who is on it, counted for the UK by status and sector, is on the SBTi companies page; reading two rows in full is on the SBTi target examples page.
The SBTi hub links every guide, and getting onto the dashboard is on the SBTi validation guide.
Frequently asked
Science Based Targets initiative dashboard, answered
What is the SBTi dashboard?
The SBTi Target Dashboard is the Science Based Targets initiative’s public register of companies and financial institutions that have set science-based targets or committed to set them, with each one’s status, sector and location.
How often is the SBTi dashboard updated?
Every Thursday, usually by 12pm GMT and no later than 5.30pm GMT, with commitment removals ordinarily on the first Thursday of the month and a pause over the end of the calendar year.
What changed on the SBTi dashboard in September 2026?
On 24 September 2026 the SBTi revised the company statuses to Validated Targets, Commitment to Set Targets and Commitment Removed, and moved regions and territories to the UN M49 standard.
Its status document was revised again, to V2.1, on 7 October 2026.
Can I download the SBTi dashboard?
Yes.
There are two Excel downloads, one row per company and one row per commitment or target, plus a data dictionary.
The page calls them .xls, but the files are .xlsx.
Why is the UK called “United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland” on the dashboard?
Because the dashboard uses the UN M49 country names since 24 September 2026; filter by that name, or by the Northern Europe region.
Does the dashboard show whether a company is meeting its target?
No. It shows the target and its status; progress needs the company’s own reported emissions.
