Software · for companies being rated
ESG rating software helps a company that is being rated answer EcoVadis, CDP and customer and investor questionnaires from one library of policies, figures and evidence.
This page sets out who rates you, how long a result lasts and what the software should do, and quotes 24 platforms in their own words.
Who rates you
Most UK companies are rated because a customer or an investor asks, not because a law does.
EcoVadis scores four themes — environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement — across 21 criteria on a 0 to 100 scale, according to its methodology.
CDP runs one disclosure cycle a year, set out on its Disclosure 2026 page, and customers use its supply chain programme to ask their suppliers to respond.
Your year
An EcoVadis scorecard is valid for 12 months from publication, per EcoVadis, so the reassessment needs to start before it lapses.
The calculator beside this takes your scorecard date and how many questionnaires you answer, and counts the year’s requests.
The number matters because each request asks for much the same evidence, which is the case for answering them from one library.
Being rated · your year of requests
EcoVadis scorecard lapses on 15 March 2027 — 143 days from today.
Requests to answer this year: 10
Each one asks for much the same core evidence — policies, energy and emissions, people and supplier data — so software that keeps one evidence library answers all 10 from the same records.
EcoVadis: scorecards valid for 12 months. CDP: one annual cycle. Your request counts are your own. Nothing is stored or sent.
What it does
Its first job is the evidence library: policies, figures and certificates, each dated and owned.
Its second is mapping that library to each rater’s structure, so one emissions figure answers EcoVadis, CDP and a customer the same way.
Its third is the calendar — what is due, what lapses, who owns it — and its fourth is an archive of everything submitted.
Each request starts from email and spreadsheets.
Figures drift between answers. Each answer is drawn from one record, linked to its evidence.
Ratings and reports agree.The rules
The rules fall on the providers, not on the companies they rate; no UK law requires a company to obtain a rating.
Tools that rate, screen and analyse other companies, and the detail of the coming regime, are on ESG risk software.
In the demo
Give it one policy and one figure, and ask for three answers.
Each question beside this comes from a rater’s own published method or a UK rule, with what a passing answer looks like.
