SECR software compared: Climatiq, Greenly, Normative, Persefoni, Sweep and Watershed
Greenly, Normative, Persefoni and Watershed each describe a SECR output on their own pages; Sweep and Climatiq describe broader carbon data work, and we found no SECR-specific claim on the pages we read.
Every one of them can only make a directors’ duty easier: the specification is Schedule 7 to SI 2008/410, and this page sets each platform beside it in its own words, alphabetically, without ranking.
The six platforms
What does each platform say it does for SECR?
Each card quotes the platform’s own site, with the link; the order is alphabetical and ranks nothing.
Climatiq
In its own words: “Climatiq delivers the reliable data, easy-to-use tools, and deep integrations businesses need to understand their carbon impact”
On SECR: No SECR claim found on the pages we read. That is a question to ask Climatiq in writing, not a finding about the product.
No acquisition found on its own site.
Greenly
In its own words: “Measure, report, and reduce your company's emissions on one audit-ready sustainability management platform”
On SECR: A SECR product: “Optimise Compliance for Energy and Carbon Disclosure”
Published price: Enterprise level · TBD
Merging with Normative, announced September 2026; see what the merger changes for customers.
Normative
In its own words: “Normative is a carbon accounting platform that helps companies calculate, report, and reduce Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions using 349,000 verified emission factors”
On SECR: “One-click reporting to support with CSRD, SECR, and other leading disclosures”
Published price: Enterprise level · TBD
Merging with Greenly, announced September 2026; see what the merger changes for customers.
Persefoni
In its own words: Persefoni describes software and AI tools to manage an organisation’s “sustainability data, disclosures, and performance”.
On SECR: A “SECR GHG Metrics Report”, a paid add-on to the free Pro plan
Published price: Persefoni Pro “completely free”, single user; Advanced by quote
Diligent announced on 22 October 2025 that it will transition its carbon accounting clients to Persefoni and take an equity position in Persefoni; Persefoni remains its own company.
Sweep
In its own words: “Sweep's AI turns sustainability data into measurable business performance”
On SECR: No SECR claim found on the pages we read. That is a question to ask Sweep in writing, not a finding about the product.
Published price: Enterprise level · TBD
No acquisition found on its own site.
Watershed
On SECR: Answer a few questions, then “download a spreadsheet with all your electricity & carbon numbers”
Published price: Enterprise level · TBD
No acquisition found on its own site.
Claims read 11 October 2026 and 30 September–1 October 2026. A missing claim is a question for the vendor, not evidence that the product lacks the capability.
The test for all six
What must any SECR tool hand back? Seven lines from Schedule 7
SECR asks an unquoted company for UK energy in kWh, the emissions behind it, at least one intensity ratio, the method, the efficiency measures and last year’s figures.
A quoted company also gives worldwide figures and the UK and offshore proportions (Part 7).
An LLP reports under regulation 12B of SI 2008/1911.
The full specification, with a builder for your own rows, is on SECR reporting software.

Which other platforms say they support SECR?
17 of the 73 vendors in our registry describe SECR support on their own pages; switch the regime to compare them on UK SRS, ESOS or Scope 3.

Conversion factors
Which factor year does a platform apply? The one the energy was used in
All six platforms work with emission factors; for SECR the UK set is the DESNZ one, chosen by the year the activity happened.
Ask each to show one meter reading, the factor applied and its year, side by side.
Ask too whether last year’s figures stay as disclosed when a new set arrives, because the comparative is last year’s published figure.

What should you ask each platform to show? Five requests, one afternoon
| Ask | A good answer | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Produce the directors’ report block from our data. | Energy, emissions, ratio, method and last year’s figures, ready to paste. | Sch 7 |
| Show one reimbursed mileage claim reaching transport fuel. | Grey-fleet mileage converted and counted for an unquoted company. | ERG 2019 |
| Show the factor year beside one figure. | Named DESNZ set, chosen by activity year. | DESNZ ¶1.10 |
| Show our chosen intensity ratio, and a second one. | Your denominator, kept year to year. | ¶20G |
| Export the working behind one figure. | Source record, quantity, factor and estimate basis. | GHG Protocol |

Has anything changed for these platforms this year? Two announcements
A method change matters for SECR because the report sets this year beside last year.
If your platform changes hands or methods, ask for the old and new figures side by side before the year closes.

Any of these platforms can carry the SECR work, and the directors still sign the figures.
Before you choose
What does this come down to?
| Fact | So |
|---|---|
| 17 registry vendors claim SECR | Choice is wide; the Schedule 7 test narrows it. |
| SECR is the company’s duty | Ask for the finished block, not a dashboard. |
| Factors follow the activity year | Check the year beside every figure. |
| Greenly and Normative are merging | Confirm your platform and method in writing. |
Write your own row list first on SECR reporting software, then take it into each demo.
Frequently asked
SECR software compared, answered
Which software is best for SECR reporting in the UK?
This site has tested no product and names no best.
Six well-known platforms are set out here in their own words, alphabetically, and the test for any of them is the same: does it produce every Schedule 7 line for your type of company, on the conversion factors for the year the energy was used, with last year’s figures as disclosed?
How does Greenly handle SECR compliance?
Greenly lists a SECR product on its UK site, described as “Optimise Compliance for Energy and Carbon Disclosure”, and also a UK SRS module.
The SECR duty itself stays with the company and its directors; ask Greenly to show the finished directors’ report block on your own data.
How does Normative handle SECR compliance?
Normative describes “one-click reporting to support with CSRD, SECR, and other leading disclosures”, and publishes a UK customer story covering SECR data and a PPN 06/21 Carbon Reduction Plan.
Normative and Greenly announced a merger in September 2026, so confirm in writing which platform and method your SECR figures will run on.
How does Watershed handle SECR compliance?
Watershed has a UK SECR page where a company answers a few questions and can “download a spreadsheet with all your electricity & carbon numbers”.
The same page names ESOS, CSRD, SDR, CDP and TCFD among the reporting it works on.
How does Persefoni handle SECR compliance?
Persefoni’s pricing page lists a “SECR GHG Metrics Report” as a paid add-on to its free Pro plan, which it describes as “completely free” for a single user.
Diligent announced in October 2025 that it will move its carbon accounting clients to Persefoni.
How does Sweep handle SECR compliance?
We found no SECR-specific claim on the Sweep pages we read.
Sweep’s own pages describe UK SRS mapping (“Pre-mapped to UK SRS S1 and UK SRS S2”) and automated Scope 1, 2 and 3 collection, so ask Sweep in writing how it produces the Schedule 7 block.
How does Climatiq handle SECR compliance?
Climatiq describes itself as a provider of emission factor data, tools and integrations, including an API.
We found no SECR-specific claim on the pages we read; it is the kind of service other tools build on, so ask whether it can apply the DESNZ factors for the year of each activity.
Is any SECR software compliant on its own?
No. SECR duties fall on the company and are discharged in the directors’ report or an LLP’s energy and carbon report.
A tool can make the work much lighter; the specification is Schedule 7, not a feature list.
What must SECR software produce?
Energy in kWh, emissions from gas, fuel and transport and from purchased electricity, at least one intensity ratio, the methodology, the principal energy-efficiency measures and last year’s figures.
A quoted company adds worldwide figures and UK and offshore proportions.
Do I need SECR software at all?
Not always.
An unquoted company is in SECR only when it exceeds two of £36 million turnover, £18 million balance sheet and 250 employees, and a company that used 40,000 kWh or less may say so instead of giving the figures.
A spreadsheet and the published factors suit many smaller estates.
Will SECR get a standard template that software must follow?
Not yet.
DESNZ’s 2026 post-implementation review lists a standardised template among candidate areas for a planned consultation; nothing has been decided.
How many vendors claim SECR support?
17 of the 73 vendors in our registry make a SECR claim on their own pages, read 11 October 2026 and 30 September–1 October 2026.
