CBAM software compared: Climatiq, Greenly, Normative, Persefoni, Sweep and Watershed
Climatiq, Greenly and Sweep each describe CBAM software on their own pages, and Normative a CBAM advisory service; every one of those claims is written for the EU CBAM.
The UK CBAM is a separate tax from 1 January 2027 (Finance Act 2026, Part 5), so ask any platform which scheme it covers before anything else.

Which CBAM
Which CBAM does a platform mean? Usually the EU one, so far
The EU CBAM reaches EU importers, including importers of UK goods; the UK CBAM reaches UK importers.
Every CBAM claim we recorded for these six platforms is about the EU scheme.
The shared work is the same: embedded emissions per installation, from verified producer data.
The UK tests for any tool are set out on CBAM software, and the tax itself on UK CBAM.

UK dates
When does a UK importer need it working? Before 31 January 2028
Registration is triggered when CBAM goods reach £50,000 or more in aggregate value (Sch 17 para 2).
Imports from 1 January 2027 count, so the data a platform holds for 2027 is the data the first return uses.
In the demo
What should you ask each platform to show? Five requests
| Ask | A good answer | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Which CBAM — EU, UK or both? | A direct answer, with the UK calculation shown if claimed. | FA 2026 Part 5 |
| Show the £50,000 test on our import data. | A running aggregate value that flags the trigger day. | Sch 17 para 2 |
| Show one installation’s verified emissions intensity. | Per functional unit, with the verifier’s evidence attached. | HMRC policy summary |
| Show Carbon Price Relief against a qualifying scheme. | The scheme, the list date and the relief. | HMRC list |
| Show the system boundaries version used. | The document version stored with the figure. | S.I. 2026/995 |
Ask which CBAM first, then ask to see your own imports run through it.

Frequently asked
CBAM software compared, answered
Which CBAM software is best?
This site has tested no product and names no best.
The six platforms here are set out in their own words, alphabetically.
The first question for any of them is which CBAM it supports: the EU CBAM, the UK CBAM from 1 January 2027, or both.
How does Greenly handle CBAM regulation?
Greenly describes an easy-to-use CBAM platform “designed for first-timers and experts alike”, and its CBAM page discusses EU certificate prices in euros, so it is written for the EU CBAM.
Greenly also says its LCA platform is audited by ADEME for ISO 14040, 14044 and 14067.
How does Sweep handle CBAM regulation?
Sweep says it helps companies “Reach full compliance for CBAM, ETS, and emerging U.S. climate regulations”, on a page about the EU CBAM, and that it calculates product carbon footprints at catalogue scale aligned to ISO 14067.
How does Climatiq handle CBAM regulation?
Climatiq offers a CBAM API: “Climatiq’s API enables you to build trusted reporting solutions for CBAM”, on a page about the EU Border Adjustment. It suits teams building CBAM calculations into their own systems.
How does Normative handle CBAM regulation?
Normative describes a CBAM service that helps businesses understand their EU CBAM obligations, build a compliant reporting process and leave with an action plan for their imports.
The registry records it as expert coaching rather than a software module.
Normative and Greenly announced a merger in September 2026.
Do Persefoni and Watershed support CBAM?
We found no CBAM claim on the Persefoni or Watershed pages we read.
Both describe product or supplier emissions work; ask each in writing whether that extends to CBAM embedded emissions.
Does any of these platforms claim the UK CBAM?
Not in the claim text we recorded on 11 October 2026 and 30 September–1 October 2026: each CBAM claim among the six is about the EU CBAM.
The UK CBAM is a separate tax from 1 January 2027; ask each vendor directly whether it supports it.
When does the UK CBAM start?
The UK CBAM applies from 1 January 2027 as a tax on imports.
Registration opens on 1 January 2028, anyone who triggers registration in 2027 must register by 31 January 2028, and the first return and payment are due by 31 May 2028.
Who has to register for the UK CBAM?
An importer whose CBAM goods reach £50,000 or more in aggregate value, tested over the previous 12 months and the next 30 days.
Is the EU CBAM the same as the UK CBAM?
No. The EU CBAM’s definitive regime runs from 1 January 2026 with a 50-tonne threshold and authorised declarants; the UK CBAM is a UK tax administered by HMRC.
The two have not been linked, so a UK exporter to the EU can face the EU CBAM while a UK importer faces the UK one.
How many vendors claim CBAM support?
21 of the 73 vendors in our registry make a CBAM claim on their own pages, read 11 October 2026 and 30 September–1 October 2026.
The table on this page shows each one with the link.
