ESG software pricing: what vendors publish, and what they do not

Of 73 ESG and carbon software vendors read on their own sites, 9 publish a price and 4 a free tier; the other 60 publish none.

This page sets out the pricing models those vendors use, the costs a quote leaves out, and two worksheets for your own figures; it has no prices of its own and estimates none.

How much does ESG software cost?

Most vendors do not say, and that is the first finding

ESG software costs whatever the written quote says, because most vendors publish no price.

This site’s registry holds 73 vendors of ESG reporting, carbon accounting software, EHS, LCA and supply-chain tools, each read on its own site.

9 publish a figure, 4 publish a free tier or plan, and 60 publish no price at all; those rows say Enterprise level · TBD.

The figures that are published are in different units, currencies and plan shapes, so they cannot be averaged into a market rate, and this page does not try.

What it does instead is show each published price in the vendor’s own words, explain the model behind it, and list the costs a buyer should get in writing.

7 ways vendors price, read off their own pages

A published price is only comparable once you know its unit: what one payment buys, and for how long.

The vendors that publish prices use 7 units between them: a cloud tenant, an organisation, a named plan by the year, a plan by the month, a supplier site, a deliverable, and a free slice.

A vendor can use more than one, and several sell a plan, add-ons and services on the same page.

Microsoft’s and Salesforce’s figures were re-read on their own pages on 10 October 2026 and had not changed.

A vendor’s pages can disagree with each other: Compare Your Footprint showed a different figure on another page, so the registry uses its pricing page, and Ecochain’s German page carries euro figures while its English page shows “Custom”.

Per tenant and per organisation

Enterprise list prices, and what sits outside them

Microsoft Sustainability Manager, Salesforce Net Zero Cloud publish enterprise list prices, and each prices a different unit.

Microsoft prices Sustainability Manager per tenant, per month: US$4,000 (Essentials) or US$12,000 (Premium) per tenant, per month.

Microsoft’s page adds that certain features in the plan require Azure meters and other Microsoft licences, so the list price is not the whole bill.

Salesforce prices Net Zero Cloud per organisation, per year: Net Zero Cloud Growth £168,000 per organisation per year, billed annually, including one full CRM licence.

Read what each plan covers

The tier decides the scope, not only the price: Microsoft Learn lists Scope 3 categories 1 to 9, 12 and 13 in Essentials, and categories 10, 11, 14 and 15 in Premium only.

A buyer whose material Scope 3 sits in the processing or use of sold products, or in franchises or investments, should check which plan carries those categories before comparing prices.

A tenant and an organisation are each the vendor’s own unit, so ask how a group with several subsidiaries, regions or legal entities is counted under each before comparing the figures.

Both platforms sit inside wider cloud estates, so ask which licences you already hold and which the sustainability product adds.

Tiered plans

Plans priced by the year: read what the entry tier includes

Many of the other published prices are named plans priced by the year, often written as “from”, with the higher plans by quote.

In the registry, Climatiq, Compare Your Footprint, Novata, Zevero publish plans of this shape, and Compare Your Footprint, Ecochain also quote by the month.

The entry tier is defined by its limits, and the vendors’ own texts name them: Scope 1 and 2 only, a single user, a size band, or a one-year minimum.

Read the tier details the vendors publish

Climatiq. Starter: Free; Data Pro €3,000 / year (single-user, scope 1, 2 and 3 emission factors; €5,000 / year for client consulting use); PCF Pro from €4,900 / year

Compare Your Footprint. Measure from £769 per year, billed annually (from £76/mo if billed monthly); Execute from £1,569 per year (from £156/mo monthly); Coordinate from £3,069 per year; 'Exact price depends on organisation size.' 14-day free trial, no credit card.

Novata. Novata for Companies: Manage 20K, Grow 50K, Lead 100K a year (currency not stated)

Zevero. Zevero Lite (Scope 1 & 2) starts from £1,500 / year; main plans (Essential, Leading, Premium) by quote; add-ons: Product Carbon Footprint starts at £500 / product; EPD from £10,000 / product; AI-powered ESG Reporting starting at £1,000; Decarbonisation Strategy from £2,000; B Corp Audit from £750. One-year minimum.

Persefoni lists a SECR GHG Metrics Report as an add-on beside its plans, which is how a regime’s report can sit outside the headline price.

Where a price says “from”, ask what moves it: the vendors’ own pages name organisation size, users, entities and modules.

The SECR output a plan has to produce is set out on SECR reporting software.

An entry plan may cover Scope 1 and 2 only, or a subset of Scope 3 categories.

Free tiers

What a free tier includes, and where it stops

6 vendors in the registry publish something free, and in every case the free offer is bounded.

Persefoni’s free plan is for a single user, Measurabl’s free solution covers tracking with paid upgrades unpriced, and Worldfavor’s free plan is for suppliers responding to data requests, as their own texts state.

A trial is not a tier: Sphera’s 45-day free trial, recorded when its pages were read, is an offer and not a price, so its row stays Enterprise level · TBD.

Read the free offers in the vendors’ words

Climatiq. Starter: Free; Data Pro €3,000 / year (single-user, scope 1, 2 and 3 emission factors; €5,000 / year for client consulting use); PCF Pro from €4,900 / year

Ecologi. PPN 006 Carbon Reduction Plan: 'Pricing starts at £3,499 + VAT'. Other plans not priced on the pages read; SME page offers 'a free account' (an Ecologi profile).

Measurabl. Free solution 'at no cost, in perpetuity' (tracking incl. Scopes 1–3, benchmarking, secure sharing); premium/paid upgrades (Navigate, Optimize, Comply) have no published price.

Persefoni. Persefoni Pro “completely free”, single user; Advanced by quote

Small99. Small99 Hero is free for all small businesses to get started to take climate action.

Worldfavor. A free plan for suppliers responding to data requests; buyer plans by quote

Seedling’s pricing page describes Starter, Core and Advanced plans; when it was re-read on 10 October 2026 it did not confirm free access, so the registry records it as TBC rather than free or paid.

The UK government’s conversion factors are published openly each year, and a spreadsheet with a written method can carry a first single-site Scope 1 and 2 inventory; the carbon accounting guide sets out when it stops coping.

A trial ends; a tier does not.

Supplier-side pricing

When the supplier pays: membership, free plans and scheme fees

Supply-chain data platforms often price the two sides of the request differently: the supplier answering, and the customer asking.

Sedex publishes a supplier membership priced per site, by the year, and does not price the buyer membership on the page read.

Worldfavor publishes a free plan for suppliers responding to data requests, with buyer plans by quote.

Before answering a customer’s ESG questionnaire through a platform, ask which side is charged and whether one membership covers every site.

Read the CDP fee, which is not a software price

CDP charges an admin fee to some disclosers as a condition of disclosing through its system; its FAQ gives the 2026 figures for UK-headquartered organisations as £5,985 for Enhanced and £2,450 for Foundation, as “a guide”.

Disclosers are exempt if they have only been requested to disclose by a Supply Chain member, a Banks Program member, a Private Markets member or the RE100 initiative.

A scheme fee is a cost of participation, not a software price, so budget it beside any platform, not inside it.

Collecting supplier data at volume is its own purchase; Scope 3 emissions software covers what that software must record.

Sedex

Service prices

A plan, a footprint, an audit: priced as pieces of work

Some published prices are not for software at all, but for a deliverable produced with it.

Ecologi publishes a price for a PPN 006 Carbon Reduction Plan, which the registry records as a service price: PPN 006 Carbon Reduction Plan: 'Pricing starts at £3,499 + VAT'. Other plans not priced on the pages read; SME page offers 'a free account' (an Ecologi profile)..

PPN 006 is procurement policy for in-scope government contracts, set out in the Cabinet Office note, not a legal duty on a company to hold a plan; what a plan must contain is on Carbon Reduction Plans under PPN 006.

Read the add-ons priced per product

Zevero publishes add-ons priced per product or per piece of work beside its plans: Zevero Lite (Scope 1 & 2) starts from £1,500 / year; main plans (Essential, Leading, Premium) by quote; add-ons: Product Carbon Footprint starts at £500 / product; EPD from £10,000 / product; AI-powered ESG Reporting starting at £1,000; Decarbonisation Strategy from £2,000; B Corp Audit from £750. One-year minimum.

A product footprint or an EPD is a different boundary from the corporate inventory, governed by product standards; LCA software explains which.

When a deliverable is priced once, ask whether next year’s update is priced again, and whether the working stays in your account if the subscription ends.

That label records an absence on the vendor’s own pages; it is not a guess at a price band, and this site does not fill the gap with a third party’s estimate.

Some publish the shape of a price without the number: IBM describes Envizi plans by bundles of accounts, which tells a buyer the unit to ask about.

Currencies

Pounds, euros, dollars, and one with no currency at all

Published ESG software prices come in the vendor’s currency, not the buyer’s, and this page prints each as the vendor states it.

Novata publishes figures with no currency stated: “Novata for Companies: Manage 20K, Grow 50K, Lead 100K a year (currency not stated)”.

ESG software cost, beyond the licence

The cost lines to ask about, in writing

The licence is one line in an ESG software cost; the others decide whether two quotes are comparable.

None of the registry’s price records includes an implementation, integration, entity or exit price, so each has to be asked for.

Send every vendor the same list and ask for every line, including a zero where a line is included, because a blank is not a yes.

Read why each line matters

Implementation is where a first year’s cost is often decided: the data has to be found, mapped and loaded before any figure appears.

Entities matter because groups change: an acquisition adds an entity mid-contract, and the price of one more is easier to agree before you need it.

Supplier volumes matter for Scope 3 programmes, where the number of invited suppliers can grow faster than the company.

The uplift compounds: a stated annual increase applies to the licence each year, which the worksheet below shows over three years.

Exit is the line least often priced and most often needed, because the 2025–26 ownership changes moved customers between owners and platforms.

Comparing capabilities against UK duties, before price, is on the ESG software comparison.

  1. 1

    Implementation

Setup, configuration, back-year data import and training, priced once.

  2. 2

    Entities

What one more subsidiary, site or legal entity costs, per year.

  3. 3

    Integrations

ERP, procurement, energy and HR connections: included, extra, or built by you.

  4. 4

    Supplier volumes

How many suppliers can be invited before the price moves.

  5. 5

    Annual uplift

The contract’s stated increase at renewal, and the minimum term.

  6. 6

    Exit

The cost and format of getting your data, factors and methods out.

  7. 7

    Assurance

A separate engagement with a practitioner, not part of the software.

A three-year cost

Your quotes, over three years

The worksheet beside this totals a quote over three years from figures you type in from the vendor’s written quote.

It applies the stated annual uplift to the licence in years two and three, adds implementation once, training each year, added entities, and the exit cost.

Added entities are counted for an average of one and a half years each, on the assumption that they arrive across the term.

It holds no vendor price and suggests none, and nothing you type is stored or sent.

Run it once per quote, in the quote’s own currency, and compare the totals rather than the year-one licences.

The cost of leaving

Price the exit before you sign

Leaving a platform has a cost even when the contract states none: the export, the re-keying, and any restatement the new method triggers.

The GHG Protocol’s Corporate Standard asks for consistency over time, so the export has to carry activity data, factors by version and methodology notes, not only totals.

A change of calculation methodology can trigger a base-year recalculation under the 2019 Inventory Guidance, against a threshold the company sets and discloses.

Read the contract terms and the ownership record

Where a vendor processes personal data for you, Article 28(3)(g) of the UK GDPR requires the contract to stipulate that the processor, at your choice, deletes or returns all the personal data after the services end.

Article 28(3)(h) requires the processor to make available the information necessary to demonstrate compliance with that Article.

Neither provision prices the export of your emissions data, so ask for its format and cost as a line of its own.

Since February 2025 the owners’ own announcements record 11 ownership changes among vendors in the registry, from Ecologi acquires Net Zero Now to Greenly and Normative announce a merger.

Greenly’s announcement says that no changes are planned to existing contracts or pricing as a direct result of its merger with Normative; no statement addressed to Normative’s existing customers was found on the owners’ pages, as set out on the Greenly–Normative merger page.

The checker beside this lists what the next report has to carry when the platform changes, each line cited to its provision.

Assurance as a separate cost

The software keeps the evidence; assurance is bought separately

Assurance is a practitioner’s engagement, bought separately from any software licence, and no UK rule requires a company to have its sustainability figures assured.

Under the FCA’s PS26/19, listed companies in UKLR 6, 14, 15, 16 and 22 report against UK SRS on a comply-or-explain basis for periods beginning on or after 1 January 2027, and one that obtains assurance says who provided it, which disclosures were assured and which assurance standards were used, under UKLR 6.6.6R(8)(d).

Read the assurance position

The FRC issued ISSA (UK) 5000 on 12 November 2025 for voluntary use, effective for periods beginning on or after 15 December 2026.

The government’s SECR guidance records no statutory requirement to have the environmental information audited.

What the software decides is how much an engagement costs to run: a platform that keeps source documents and change history as the work happens leaves less to reconstruct.

The UK assurance position in full is on sustainability assurance.

How much does ESG software cost?

Most vendors do not say.

This site has no prices of its own and estimates none, so the honest answer for most products is the figure in a written quote, judged over three years with implementation, entities, integrations, supplier volumes, uplift and exit included.

By whatever unit the vendor chooses, and the published ones differ: per tenant per month (Microsoft Sustainability Manager), per organisation per year (Salesforce Net Zero Cloud), named plans by the year (Climatiq, Compare Your Footprint, Novata, Zevero), per-site supplier membership (Sedex), and a price per deliverable such as a Carbon Reduction Plan (Ecologi, Zevero).

Compare quotes on the same unit before comparing the numbers.

How much does ESG reporting software cost?

The registry files 51 vendors under ESG reporting, and 3 of them publish a figure on their own pages; the rest are Enterprise level · TBD or offer a free plan.

Ask each for the same written breakdown — licence, implementation, entities, frameworks, users, uplift and exit — so the quotes can be laid side by side.

How much does carbon accounting software cost?

Of the 60 carbon accounting vendors in the registry, 6 publish a figure and 3 a free tier or plan.

The published figures run from small-business plans priced by the year to enterprise platforms priced per tenant or per organisation, in the currency each vendor chooses.

The carbon accounting software guide sets out what the software must do before price matters.

Is there free ESG or carbon accounting software?

Some vendors publish a free tier, plan or account: Climatiq, Ecologi, Measurabl, Persefoni, Small99, Worldfavor in this site’s registry.

Each free offer is defined by its limit — one user, one role such as a supplier answering requests, or a starting module — with paid plans or add-ons above it.

A free trial is a different thing: an offer for a period, not a price.

The UK government conversion factors are published openly, and a spreadsheet can carry a first single-site Scope 1 and 2 inventory.

Why do so many ESG software vendors not publish prices?

This site cannot say why, and does not guess.

It records only whether a vendor publishes a figure on its own pages; where it does not, the row says Enterprise level · TBD.

The absence of a public price is itself useful: it means the quote, and what it includes, has to be obtained in writing.

What does ESG software implementation cost?

None of the price records in this site’s registry includes an implementation figure, so this site states none.

Ask for implementation as its own line in the quote — setup, integrations, back-year data import and training — and enter it in the three-year worksheet on this page beside the licence.

What should an ESG software quote include?

The licence and its unit (tenant, organisation, user, site or entity), the plan and what it covers, implementation and migration, each integration, the cost of an added entity, supplier volumes where suppliers are invited, the annual uplift, the minimum term, the cost and format of exporting your data at exit, and anything sold as an add-on, such as a report.

Assurance is a separate engagement and a separate cost.

Which is the cheapest or best-value ESG software?

This site ranks nothing and has tested no product, so it names none.

Published prices are in different units and currencies and cover different things, and most vendors publish none.

Value is the three-year cost of a product that passes the tests your own duties impose — SECR, UK SRS, PPN 006, CDP or CSRD — shown on your own data.

Are ESG software prices quoted in pounds?

Not always.

In this site’s registry, 5 published figures are in pounds, 2 in euros and 1 in US dollars, and 1 (Novata) state no currency at all.

This site prints each figure as the vendor states it and converts nothing; ask for the contract currency in writing.

Is assurance included in the price of ESG software?

Assurance is an engagement carried out by a practitioner, not a platform, so treat it as a separate cost from any software licence.

No UK rule requires sustainability figures to be assured; a listed company that obtains assurance says so under the FCA’s rules.

Budget it separately if you commission it.

What does it cost to switch ESG software?

The exit costs are the ones least often priced: exporting activity data, factors by version and methodology notes, re-keying, and any restatement the new method triggers.

Ask the vendor for the export format and its cost in writing, and check the processor contract’s end-of-contract terms for personal data under Article 28(3)(g) of the UK GDPR.

Is the CDP fee part of the cost of ESG software?

No. CDP charges an admin fee to some disclosers as a condition of disclosing through its system; for UK-headquartered organisations in 2026 it is £5,985 for Enhanced and £2,450 for Foundation.

It is exempt where the only requests come from a supply-chain member, a Banks Program member, a Private Markets member or RE100.

Budget it beside the software, not inside it.

Do suppliers have to pay to answer a customer’s ESG questionnaire?

Sometimes.

In this site’s registry, Sedex publishes a per-site supplier membership, and Worldfavor publishes a free plan for suppliers responding to data requests.

Ask the customer which platform it uses, and whether the supplier’s side is charged.
